Rio

If I was going to run away and hide from the world, I just might pick Rio de Janeiro.

A certain casualness and realness with an unmatchable landscape/seascape.

I had booked enough nights here to relax and explore areas off the guided tours path.

Terry and Kim on Rua Bolivar.

I had an roommate in the 1980s that fell in love with Rio and moved there.

Have not heard from him in years. I imagined running into him on Copacabana Beach.

Terry and Dad 1961 in Santa Teresa

The old neighborhood of Santa Teresa was a place of deep reflection and history.

Would loved to have had more time to wander these steep streets. Perhaps another time.

The last day there was beautiful. Perfect weather and time to think about just how fortunate I am to have been able to spend a week here.

I can only hope that someone encounters my photographs and takes a few moments to slow down, reflect and breath.
