The first day of letting go.

Revisiting 14th Street yesterday morning, remembering previous projects as I walked along.

Searching for locations to place, hang, stand my historic photographs.

How long will they survive?

Who will take them?

Will someone be moved by an encounter?

How do I feel?

I admit that releasing some of the photos is not as easy.

A bit separation anxiety. 

A bit profound loss.

It brings up so many emotions just the simple action of leaving 

photographs in the city I love.


El primer día de dejar ir.

Volví a visitar la calle 14 ayer por la mañana, recordando proyectos anteriores mientras caminaba.

Busqué lugares para colocar, colgar, colocar mis fotografías históricas.

¿Cuánto tiempo sobrevivirán?

¿Quién las tomará?

¿Alguien se conmoverá con un encuentro?

¿Cómo me siento?

Admito que dejar ir algunas de las fotos no es tan fácil.

Un poco de ansiedad por la separación.

Un poco de pérdida profunda.

El simple acto de dejar

fotografías en la ciudad que amo trae consigo tantas emociones.

 Further reflexion on revisiting Mexico Emotions certainly ran high through my days spent in Mexico. Seems memories lurked around each corner. Some of the best days of my life were spent here. The 2 people I use tot ravel to Mexico with have both passed away .  I imaged them with me as I walked this vast  metropolis. One night me, Melindo, and our friend Leonel went to visit Tenampa. Tenampa was made famous being mentioned in various 1960's  songs by some of Mexico's most legendary singers. Tenampa is a mariachi bar located in Plaza Garibaldi. The last time I was in Plaza Garibaldi was with my friend Bill Bayes. "Bill and I at Plaza Garibaldi 2002" Bill owned Ansley Art and Frame in Atlanta and had framed my work for years. Hola Santiago. Santiago has been on my radar for decades for no apparent reason. I knew nothing about this place. It is just a place I needed to visit. Santiago ha estado en mi radar durante décadas sin razón aparente. No sabía nada de este lugar. Simplemente era un lugar que necesitaba visitar.  Me at 1 month   Last year while planning this trip, I learned someone I had known for years playing volleyball had moved to Santiago. Yet another reason to go. It was so great to see Drew again and delve into the past and share our love and happiness with  relocating to Latin America. To the bottom of the world and heading back north We made it around the tip of South America and arrived at the Falkland Islands. Being so close to Antartica brought on unexpected feelings of being on the edge of earth and wanting to go further. I have never had a desire to visit Antartica before today. Perhaps it was all the refrigerator magnets and sweatshirts at all the shops of Ashuaia, Argentina. Somehow the idea of isolation and detachment has become more desirable.  Something to consider.  The Falkland Islands have been a land of wars and uprisings for generations. The strategic location has been coveted by many countries.  Port Stanley, a small town of 3,600 is her capitol and a simple place with more people than trees and many more penguins than people. This is their world. The simple architecture and a handful of gifts shops anxiously await the next cruise ship's arrival which doubles the population if only for a day.
